Wrestling Injury Treatment in Coral Springs & Parkland
Wrestling asks the neck, shoulders, knees and low back to do things no other sport does. When a strained neck, a jammed shoulder, an aching knee or a stiff low back is keeping a wrestler off the mat, we help them recover with drug-free chiropractic and sports rehab that treats the cause.
Wrestling injury treatment at The Spine and Wellness Center helps South Florida grapplers — from youth club mats to Coral Springs and Parkland high school programs — recover from the neck strain, joint sprains and chronic mat stress the sport demands, using drug-free chiropractic and sports rehabilitation that treats the cause rather than masking it. We've served Coral Springs and Parkland since 2005.

Few sports load the body the way wrestling does. Shots, sprawls, takedowns and scrambles combine explosive effort with awkward, twisting positions, and the neck bears loads that most athletes never experience — bridging out of a pin, driving into a tie-up, absorbing a hard landing. Add a long season of daily live wrestling, drilling and conditioning, and the same joints take that stress week after week. Over time it shows up as a neck that won't turn, a shoulder that catches, a knee that swells after mat work, or a low back that's tight every morning. Our job is to sort out what's happening, make sure nothing dangerous is being missed, and then rebuild the wrestler's mobility, strength and recovery so they can compete with confidence.

Neck, Shoulder, Knee & Low Back
Neck and cervical strain
No joint takes more in wrestling than the neck. Bridging out of a pin, snapping down in a tie-up and landing awkwardly on a takedown all load the cervical spine in ways it rarely sees elsewhere. Most of what we treat is muscular strain, stiffness and joint irritation — the neck that won't rotate fully or aches after a hard practice. We assess neck motion, nerve function and shoulder strength, screen carefully for warning signs, and once serious injury is ruled out, we work to settle the irritated tissue and restore normal, protected movement. Anything suggesting an acute neck injury goes to a physician first — more on that below.
Shoulder
Shoulders absorb constant pulling, posting and levering, and positions like the whizzer or a defended arm can push the joint to its limit. Wrestlers often describe a shoulder that catches, feels loose, or aches with overhead reach. We evaluate the joint and the movement chain around it, use hands-on therapy and modalities like cold laser and the Graston Technique to calm irritated soft tissue, and rebuild stability with progressive sports rehab so the athlete can trust the shoulder under load again.
Knee and low back
Knees take a beating from shots, sprawls and scrambling on the mat, while the low back absorbs the constant flexion, rotation and lifting of live wrestling. Players often describe a low back that's tight every morning or a knee that swells after mat work. Gentle chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue work and, when appropriate, spinal decompression can take pressure off aggravated joints and discs, while targeted rehab rebuilds the core, hip and leg strength that protects the wrestler in every position.
Mobility, Recovery & Performance
Wrestling injury treatment isn't only about fixing what's hurt — it's about helping a wrestler move well and recover so they perform. Good hip, shoulder and spine mobility supports deeper shots, quicker sprawls and stronger bridges, and the joints that move freely are the ones least likely to get hurt. We assess where a wrestler is stiff or restricted, use chiropractic care and soft tissue therapy to open up those areas, and pair it with mobility and strengthening work they can carry into practice. Recovery matters just as much: a long season of daily live wrestling and conditioning is hard on the body, and structured recovery care — easing muscle tightness, restoring motion and calming overworked joints — helps a wrestler show up fresher for the next session or match.
Many wrestlers also manage their weight class, and a hard training and competition week can leave the body stiff, fatigued and beaten up. We can support that musculoskeletal recovery — the tightness and soreness that linger afterward. To be clear about our lane: we do not provide diet, weight-cutting or dehydration advice. Nutrition and safe weight management belong with a physician, a registered dietitian and the coaching staff, following the athlete's league and state guidelines. Our role is to help the body recover and move well, not to manage weight.
About Acute Neck & Head Injuries
We take neck and head injuries seriously and stay in our lane. A hard slam, an awkward landing or a failed bridge can, in rare cases, cause a serious cervical injury — and a blow to the head can cause a concussion. Severe neck pain, numbness or tingling, weakness in the arms or legs, an inability to move the neck, or any head injury with headache, dizziness, confusion, nausea, memory trouble or loss of consciousness is a medical emergency. In those situations the wrestler should stop immediately, be kept still, and be evaluated by a physician or emergency provider — we do not diagnose, clear or manage acute cervical trauma or concussions. Coaches should follow their league's injury and return-to-play protocols. Once a physician has taken the lead and ruled out serious injury, we can help with the strained, stiff neck and upper back and the muscle guarding that so often lingers afterward. What to Expect
Your first visit starts with listening: how the injury happened, what hurts, what the wrestler can and can't do, and their age, weight class and level. We examine the injured area and the movement around it, and — importantly — screen for the red flags that mean a wrestler needs a physician, imaging or the emergency room before any hands-on care. When it's safe to proceed, we build a plan that may combine chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, spinal decompression, Graston, cold laser and a progressive rehab and mobility program. We stage the return so strength and control come back before full live wrestling does, and we keep parents, and when appropriate coaches and athletic trainers, in the loop.
