Quick answer

NuOla medical weight loss is a physician-supervised program at The Spine and Wellness Center that treats weight as a clinical issue rather than a willpower test. We start with an InBody body-composition scan and a metabolic consultation, build a personalized nutrition and activity plan, then re-measure and adjust at regular check-ins so progress is steady and sustainable.

What is NuOla medical weight loss and how does it work?

NuOla medical weight loss is a physician-supervised program that treats weight as a clinical issue, not a willpower test. Most diets fail because they ignore the one thing that matters: your metabolism. When weight has been stubborn for years, the problem is rarely effort — it is usually a slowed metabolic rate, hormones working against you and a generic plan that was never built for your body.

NuOla starts by measuring what is actually happening inside your body. Metabolic and body-composition testing on the InBody scanner shows how much of your weight is muscle, fat and water, and where it sits. Those numbers become a real nutrition and activity strategy you can live with in Coral Springs — not a crash plan you abandon by week three. At every follow-up we re-measure, celebrate the wins and fine-tune anything that is stalling.

  • A plan built from your metabolism, not a one-size-fits-all diet.
  • Physician supervision at every step, so it is done safely and at a pace your body can handle.
  • Fat loss that protects muscle and energy, tracked scan by scan rather than guessed from the bathroom scale.
  • Less inflammation, which matters because excess load is one of the quiet drivers of joint and back pain we treat every day.

Who is medical weight loss for?

NuOla fits people whose weight has not responded to effort alone, and people whose weight is now getting in the way of something else — a sore back, aching knees, low energy or a doctor’s warning about lifestyle-related risk. In our Coral Springs and Parkland practice, the patients who do best tend to share a few patterns:

  • Stubborn excess weight that comes back after every diet, often with a metabolism that has slowed after years of under-eating and over-restricting.
  • Metabolic slowdown — the person who ‘eats less than everyone else’ and still cannot move the number, and needs a plan built on measured numbers rather than guesswork.
  • Low energy that improves as the body sheds excess load and nutrition is matched to what it actually needs.
  • Inflammation-driven pain — knee, hip and lower back pain that eases when the load on those joints comes down, which is why we often pair NuOla with physical therapy and structural care.

Good to know

NuOla is not a quick-fix program and we will tell you so on day one. The goal is steady, supervised fat loss that you can keep — not a number that spikes in a month and rebounds by summer. If a plan sounds too fast to be safe, it usually is.

What happens at your first two visits?

We measure before we plan. The first visit is about understanding how your body uses fuel; the second is about turning those findings into a plan you can start.

Visit one — the InBody scan and consultation

  1. A real conversation. Your weight history, what you have tried, how you eat and sleep, medications and health conditions, and what you want to get back to — your goals set the target for the whole plan.
  2. The InBody body-composition scan. You stand barefoot on the platform and hold the hand electrodes for about a minute. The scan reports skeletal muscle mass, body-fat percentage, water balance and a segmental breakdown by arm, leg and trunk. It is painless and repeatable, which is what makes it useful for tracking.
  3. Metabolic review. Your provider reviews the scan and your history to estimate how many calories your body actually uses, so the plan is built on your numbers rather than an average.
  4. A structural screen when pain is part of the picture. Many NuOla patients also have back, hip or knee pain. If so, a brief structural exam — or the 60-second spine assessment — tells us whether chiropractic or rehab care should run alongside the program.

Visit two — your findings and your plan

Your provider walks you through the InBody report and the metabolic findings in plain English, then presents your personalized nutrition and activity plan: what to eat and roughly how much, how to move in a way that fits your week, and what we will measure at each check-in. The program begins here, and you leave knowing exactly what the first month looks like.

The InBody scan takes about a minute and separates muscle, fat and water so progress is measured, not guessed.

What does a month of medical weight loss look like?

A month on NuOla is built around short, regular check-ins rather than a single long appointment. Each visit follows the same rhythm, so you always know where you stand.

  1. Re-measure. A repeat InBody scan and weight check. We look at the direction of fat mass and muscle mass, not just the total — losing muscle is the fastest way to slow a metabolism further.
  2. Review. How the eating plan felt, where it was hard, how sleep and energy are tracking, and whether any pain is limiting movement.
  3. Adjust. Calories, protein targets and the activity plan are tuned to what the scan shows. If progress stalls, we change something rather than telling you to try harder.
  4. Add the supportive tools. Depending on your plan, a session may be paired with red light therapy for weight loss, PEMF or IHHT on the same visit so you are not making extra trips.

Between visits, the work is yours — but it is specific work. A written eating plan, a simple movement target and a short list of things to notice. Most patients report changes in energy within the first few weeks; the scale follows at a steady, supervised pace. We set realistic milestones up front and measure against them, which is very different from hoping.

Where does medical weight loss fit in the 4R Method?

The 4R Method — Repair, Rebuild, Regenerate, Refine — is how every plan at The Spine and Wellness Center is organized. NuOla lives in the Regenerate phase: the point where the structure has been stabilized and the focus turns to the cellular and metabolic systems that decide how well the body recovers, how much energy it has and how much load it carries.

R3 · Regenerate — the metabolic phase

In Regenerate, care typically runs about twice a week for two or more months. NuOla provides the nutritional and metabolic backbone; red light, PEMF, IHHT and BrainTap provide the cellular support around it. For patients who come to us with pain first, NuOla usually begins once the Repair and Rebuild phases have calmed the spine or joint — because a body that can move comfortably loses weight far more easily than one that cannot.

R4 · Refine — keeping it off

Refine is the long game: a monthly tune-up that includes a repeat InBody scan, a quick review of the plan and a structural check. It is how a result becomes a weight you simply live at — a 20-minute visit that keeps the numbers honest.

How does NuOla pair with red light, PEMF, IHHT and movement?

Nutrition does the heavy lifting in any supervised weight program. The therapies we pair with it are there to make the plan easier to follow, keep you moving and support recovery — never to replace the fundamentals.

  • Red light therapy. Warm, non-invasive sessions on the full-body bed or with panels over a targeted area. Used as a supportive piece alongside a healthy diet and activity, with honest expectations set at your first visit.
  • PEMF therapy. A 15–30-minute whole-body chair session that most people feel as nothing or a faint tapping; used to support circulation and recovery so training days are not lost to soreness.
  • IHHT oxygen therapy. Alternating lower- and higher-oxygen air while you rest or pedal, which we use in Regenerate to support stamina as the activity plan ramps up.
  • BrainTap. A guided relaxation session that helps with the sleep and stress side of weight — the part most programs ignore.
  • Movement and rehab. If a bad knee or a tight lower back is the reason you stopped walking, physical therapy fixes the obstacle before the activity target is set.

One trip to Coral Ridge Drive can cover the check-in, the scan and a supportive session. That consistency — not any single therapy — is what moves a plan from week four to month four.

Is medical weight loss safe? Evidence and contraindications

Supervised, measured and paced to your body, NuOla is a conservative approach by design. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases notes that health care professionals most often treat overweight and obesity through lifestyle changes — a healthy eating plan and more physical activity — and that a reasonable initial goal is losing about 5% of body weight over six months, with regular counseling, monitoring and feedback (NIDDK, Treatment for Overweight & Obesity). That is the structure NuOla follows.

Because the program is supervised, every step is matched to what your body can handle. We track your progress, watch for warning signs and adjust nutrition and activity so weight comes off at a healthy pace — no extreme fasting and no crash dieting. We also coordinate with your primary care physician whenever a medical condition is part of the picture.

When we ask you to see a physician first

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding — weight-loss plans wait until your obstetrician clears them.
  • Unmanaged diabetes, thyroid or heart conditions — your physician’s input shapes the calorie and activity targets before we begin.
  • A history of eating disorders — a structured program may not be appropriate, and we will say so.
  • Rapid, unexplained weight change, new severe pain, chest pain or shortness of breath — please see a doctor or urgent care today before any weight program starts.
  • Implanted electrical devices — the InBody scan uses a tiny electrical current and is not used with a pacemaker or similar device; we measure another way.

Everything else — the plateau, the slowed metabolism, the back that hurts more every time the scale creeps up — is what NuOla is built for. If you are unsure whether the program fits, contact our Coral Springs office and we will talk it through before you book.

Frequently asked questions

What is medical weight loss?

Medical weight loss is a physician-supervised program that treats weight as a clinical issue rather than a willpower problem. We evaluate your metabolism, body composition and health history, then build a personalized plan of nutrition, activity and regular check-ins so weight comes off safely and stays off — with every step measured on the InBody scanner.

How is NuOla different from a regular diet?

A diet hands you the same rules as everyone else. NuOla is built around your body — your measured metabolic rate, body composition, health history and goals — and is monitored by a provider who adjusts the plan as you progress. The aim is fat loss that protects your muscle and energy rather than a crash that rebounds.

What does the InBody scan measure?

The InBody scan uses a small, painless electrical signal to estimate skeletal muscle mass, body-fat percentage, total body water and how those are distributed across your arms, legs and trunk. It takes about a minute standing on the platform. Repeating it at each check-in shows whether you are losing fat, holding muscle and staying hydrated.

How long does medical weight loss take to show results?

Most patients notice changes in energy and on the scale within the first few weeks, but the program is designed for lasting results rather than a quick spike. We set realistic milestones up front, re-measure at each visit and adjust the plan whenever progress stalls, so you always know where you stand.

Can I do NuOla if I am also being treated for back or joint pain?

Yes, and it is often the best time to start. Pain care in the Repair and Rebuild phases of the 4R Method makes movement comfortable; the weight program in the Regenerate phase then reduces the load on the spine, hips and knees. We schedule both on the same visits whenever possible.

Is NuOla covered by insurance?

Coverage varies by plan. We accept most major medical insurance and will verify your benefits before you start, so there are no surprises. Call (954) 341-2256 and our front desk will check what your plan covers for the consultation, scans and follow-up visits.

Do you see NuOla patients from Parkland and Coconut Creek?

Yes. Our Coral Springs office on Coral Ridge Drive is minutes from Parkland, Coconut Creek, Margate, Tamarac and Boca Raton, and same-day appointments are usually available for the first consultation and InBody scan.
