Quick answer
The closest clinic for measured, non-surgical sciatica treatment near Coral Springs is The Spine and Wellness Center at 5675 Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs, about 5 to 10 minutes from Coral Springs. The first visit is an exam with nerve testing, surface EMG, thermal scanning and X-rays when indicated; the second is your report of findings, where treatment — usually spinal decompression plus precise adjustments — begins.
Why Coral Springs patients choose us for sciatica treatment
The Spine and Wellness Center has cared for Coral Springs families since 2005. Here is why they keep choosing us for sciatica treatment in Coral Springs rather than a clinic down the street.
- Close enough to be routine. The clinic is about 5 to 10 minutes from Coral Springs via University Drive, Wiles Road or Coral Ridge Drive. Free parking is at the door, and we schedule follow-ups around your commute so the drive stays a non-issue.
- Hours built for working people. Open until 7:00 pm three evenings a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday), plus Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings.
- Care that fits Coral Springs life. We regularly treat Coral Springs families, youth athletes from the Sportsplex and Mullins Park, golfers from Eagle Trace and Heron Bay, and commuters who use the Sawgrass every day. That experience shapes everything from the exam to the home-care plan.
What is actually pressing on the sciatic nerve?
Good sciatica treatment in Coral Springs starts with an uncomfortable truth: sciatica is not a diagnosis. It is a symptom — pain, tingling or numbness that runs from the low back or buttock down the back of one leg, often below the knee — and it means one of the nerve roots that form the sciatic nerve is being irritated somewhere. Finding where is the whole job.
At our Coral Springs clinic, about 5 to 10 minutes from Coral Springs, three sources account for most of the sciatica we see. A bulging or herniated disc at L4–L5 or L5–S1 pressing on the nerve root beside it is by far the most common. Narrowing of the foramen — the bony opening the nerve exits through — from disc thinning or arthritic change is the second, and shows up more often after 50. The piriformis muscle, which the sciatic nerve passes beside deep in the buttock, is the third and tends to mimic a disc without any back pain at all.
Each one needs a different plan. Decompression helps a disc; it does little for a tight piriformis. That is why Dr. Jared Cohen, DC built our process around measurement first, and why the broader context in our lower back pain relief and herniated disc guides is worth a read before your visit.

Is it sciatica, or is it the hip or SI joint?
“Sciatica” has become the word for any pain between the low back and the foot. That is a problem, because the SI joint, the hip and the piriformis muscle all live next door to the sciatic nerve and all need different care. Use this quick sort before your visit:
- Does the pain run below the knee in a line? If yes, with tingling or numbness, the nerve root is likely involved — true sciatica.
- Is it low, one-sided and worst standing up or rolling over? That is the sacroiliac joint pattern, and it rarely passes the knee.
- Is it in the groin or the outer hip, worse walking? Think hip joint, not nerve.
- Is it a deep buttock ache with little back pain, worse sitting? The piriformis muscle is irritating the nerve from the outside.
Most people have some overlap, which is why the exam matters more than the label. Nerve-tension tests, a neurological screen and SI and hip provocation tests on your first visit tell us which structure is driving the symptoms. If the answer is mostly hip and pelvis, our hip and SI joint guide explains that side of the plan. Getting that sort right is the foundation of every plan for sciatica treatment in Coral Springs.
What is sciatica treatment in Coral Springs like at The Spine and Wellness Center?
Our care runs in the sequence the body heals: the 4R Method — Repair, Rebuild, Regenerate, Refine. Skipping to strengthening while a nerve is still compressed is the most common reason sciatica care fails, so we never do it.
Phase 1 · Repair
The job is to get pressure off the nerve root. For disc patterns we use non-surgical spinal decompression on the Triton DTS table — not traction, which pulls constantly and makes the muscles fight back, but computer-controlled cycles of pull and release that lower pressure inside the disc so the herniation can retract and the disc can rehydrate. Sessions run about 20 minutes. Precise adjustments and cold laser round out the phase. Most patients notice a change in the leg within two to three weeks of a 3–5-visit-a-week schedule, over 4–8 weeks.
Phase 2 · Rebuild
With the leg calm, we correct the structure that overloaded the disc — lumbar curve, pelvic balance and the deep core — using corrective care, physical therapy and soft-tissue work on the piriformis and hip rotators. 2–3 visits a week for 8–16 weeks.
Phases 3 and 4 · Regenerate and Refine
Red light, PEMF and IHHT support nerve and disc recovery about twice a week for two months or more; then a brief monthly tune-up protects the result.
What happens at your first two visits?
Two visits, two jobs. The first measures; the second explains and begins treatment. Coral Springs patients tell us it is the first time anyone has actually tested the nerve instead of guessing from the symptom.
- Visit one — the exam. A conversation about where the pain runs and what triggers it; a hands-on exam with straight-leg-raise and slump nerve-tension tests, reflexes, strength and sensation in the leg, and SI and hip provocation tests; surface EMG and thermal scanning along the spine; digital X-rays when indicated. We review any MRI you bring.
- Visit two — the plan. Your report of findings, with scans and images in front of you, mapped onto the 4R Method: the structure compressing the nerve, the phase you start in, visit frequency and expected duration. Treatment starts at this visit.
- Along the way. Re-exams and re-scans at set points so progress in the leg is measured, not assumed, and the plan adjusts to how you respond.

What helps sciatica at home — and when to see a doctor instead
Between visits, what you do with the leg either speeds recovery or keeps the nerve irritated. The rules for sciatica are a little different from ordinary back pain:
- Walk, don’t rest. Short, frequent walks on level ground keep the disc nourished and the nerve gliding; bed rest beyond a day or two usually makes sciatica worse.
- No aggressive forward bending early. Toe-touches and deep hamstring stretches load an irritated disc and can push symptoms further down the leg. Your plan adds nerve glides at the right stage.
- Break up sitting. Sitting is the highest-pressure position for a lumbar disc. Stand or walk for two minutes every 30–45 minutes, especially on the commute.
- Sleep unloaded. Side-lying with a pillow between the knees, or on your back with a pillow under the knees.
- Ice first, heat later. Ice the low back in the first 48 hours of a flare; heat for stiffness after that.
A few symptoms are not chiropractic problems and need same-day medical evaluation: new loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin or inner thighs, leg weakness that is getting worse quickly, or sciatica after a serious fall or accident. If any of these apply, please see a doctor or urgent care today. For everything else, the evidence favors conservative care first — the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke notes that most sciatica improves without surgery, which is reserved for progressive neurological deficits or pain that fails other treatment (NINDS, Back Pain).

Frequently asked questions
Should I stretch my hamstrings for sciatica?
Not early on. Deep hamstring stretches and toe-touches tension an irritated sciatic nerve and load the disc, and can push symptoms further down the leg. Walking is the safe early movement. Gentle nerve-gliding exercises are added at the right stage of your plan, once the leg has calmed.
Why does sciatica hurt more when I sit?
Sitting is the highest-pressure position for a lumbar disc, and most sciatica is disc-driven. The extra load pushes the bulge further toward the nerve root. That is also why long drives and desk days flare it, and why the Repair phase focuses on lowering pressure inside the disc with decompression.
What is the 4R Method for sciatica?
Repair, Rebuild, Regenerate, Refine. Repair unloads the nerve with decompression and adjustments (3–5 visits a week for 4–8 weeks); Rebuild corrects the lumbar curve, pelvis and deep core (2–3 a week for 8–16 weeks); Regenerate supports nerve and disc recovery; Refine keeps the result with brief monthly tune-ups.
Do you offer same-day appointments for Coral Springs patients?
