Cryotherapy in Coral Springs
A few attended minutes of controlled, very cold air to support recovery and ease everyday soreness — no needles, no downtime. A wellness service that complements the chiropractic and rehab care we provide, not a medical treatment.
Quick answer
Whole-body cryotherapy is a brief wellness session in which you stand in a chamber of very cold air for a few minutes while a trained staff member stays with you. People use it to support recovery after training, ease everyday muscle soreness and feel refreshed. It is drug-free and non-invasive, requires a health screening before the first session, is not right for everyone, and individual results vary.
What is whole-body cryotherapy and how does it work?
Cryotherapy is simple: you step into a chamber where the surrounding air is cooled to a very low temperature for just a few minutes while a trained staff member stays with you the whole time. The cold is brisk but dry and brief, and you can step out whenever you wish.
The idea behind whole-body cryotherapy is the same one behind an ice pack, applied to the whole body at once. Very cold air on the skin triggers a rapid narrowing of surface blood vessels, a drop in skin temperature and a surge of the body’s cold response; when you step out and warm up, blood flow returns. Many guests describe the finish as refreshing and energizing. The cold never reaches deep tissue the way a long ice bath does — the exposure is too short — which is part of why sessions are so brief.
At The Spine and Wellness Center, cryotherapy is a wellness service that complements the chiropractic and rehabilitation care we provide. It is not a medical treatment, and individual results vary from person to person. We have served Coral Springs and Parkland since 2005, and this is one of the recovery tools guests fold into a broader wellness plan.

What do people use it for?
Guests choose it for a handful of practical reasons:
- Supporting recovery after training and activity — a popular add-on for runners, lifters, pickleball and tennis players, and youth athletes in season.
- Easing everyday muscle soreness after exertion, a long day on your feet or a hard week.
- Soothing the discomfort of everyday inflammation — tired, stiff, achy muscles and joints.
- Feeling refreshed when energy runs low; many guests say they leave feeling renewed and more alert.
- Complementing chiropractic and rehab care as part of the Regenerate phase of a care plan.
- A simple, regular wellness routine — a few minutes that fit around work or training.
What the research says, honestly: a Cochrane systematic review found that the evidence for whole-body cryotherapy reducing muscle soreness after exercise is limited and of low quality, with no firm conclusions about benefit or harm (Costello et al., Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, 2015). We present cryotherapy as a comfort and recovery option that many guests value, not as a treatment with proven clinical outcomes — and we never recommend it in place of care for an injury or condition.
What does a session feel like?
- Screening first. Before your first session we review your health history to make sure cryotherapy is a good fit. It is not right for everyone, and certain conditions and pregnancy may rule it out. If you have a medical condition, please consult your physician before booking.
- Change into dry layers. We provide the protective items you wear in the chamber; everything in contact with the cold must be completely dry.
- Step in, stay standing. The session lasts only a few minutes. The cold is intense but dry, so most people find it tolerable and even refreshing.
- Attended throughout. A staff member monitors the session, chats with you, and can end it the moment you ask.
- Step out and warm up. Most guests feel a rush of warmth and energy within minutes, with no downtime — you can go straight back to work or training.
A note on localized cold: for a single sore joint or a fresh strain, an ice pack or cold laser aimed at that spot is the better tool. Whole-body sessions are about how the whole body feels afterward, not about treating one injury, which is why we match the option to the goal rather than defaulting to the chamber. Sessions are also scheduled, not walk-in, so the chamber is at temperature and a staff member is free to attend you.
Many guests pair a cryotherapy session with red light therapy, PEMF or an IHHT oxygen session on the same visit, or schedule it after an adjustment or a physical therapy session.
Where does cryotherapy fit in the 4R Method?
Our care plans follow the 4R Method: Repair, Rebuild, Regenerate, Refine. Cryotherapy belongs in the later phases, as a recovery and wellness add-on rather than a treatment for the problem itself:
- Repair (3–5×/week, 4–8 weeks): the priority is the spine and nerve — decompression, adjustments, cold laser. It is not part of this phase; localized care such as ice or cold laser targets the injured tissue directly.
- Rebuild (2–3×/week, 8–16 weeks): as training volume rises, some guests add a cryotherapy session after rehab to take the edge off soreness.
- Regenerate (about 2×/week, 2+ months): the natural home for cryotherapy, alongside red light, PEMF, IHHT and BrainTap — the phase focused on energy, sleep and resilience.
- Refine (monthly tune-ups): many athletes keep a regular cryotherapy routine around competition and heavy training blocks.
For a recovery tool with a stronger evidence base for pain and tissue repair, cold laser and red light for pain are what we reach for first; cryotherapy is the add-on guests enjoy.
Is cryotherapy safe? Screening and who should not do it
Attended, screened, brief sessions are well tolerated by most healthy adults. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has noted that whole-body cryotherapy devices are not cleared or approved to treat any medical condition and has cautioned about risks such as frostbite, burns and eye injury when sessions are not properly supervised (FDA Consumer Update). That is exactly why every first session at our clinic begins with a health screening and why a staff member stays with you throughout.
- Cryotherapy is generally not appropriate for people who are pregnant, or who have uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart conditions, circulation disorders, Raynaud’s phenomenon, cold allergy or cold-induced hives, nerve disorders affecting sensation, open wounds, or a pacemaker.
- Talk to your physician first if you have any medical condition, take blood thinners, or are unsure.
- Everything you wear must be dry, and jewelry comes off — moisture and metal conduct cold.
- You are never locked in; the session ends whenever you say.
If you are dealing with an injury, pain that is not settling, or a condition rather than everyday soreness, please start with a proper evaluation — the 60-second spine assessment is a good first step — rather than with a cold session.
