Sciatica Treatment in Boca Raton, FL
Drug-free, measured-first care for the leg pain that starts in the spine, from The Spine and Wellness Center, about 20 to 25 minutes from Boca Raton via the Sawgrass Expressway and Hillsboro Boulevard, or Glades Road to US-441, with same-day appointments most days.
Quick answer
The closest clinic for measured, non-surgical sciatica treatment near Boca Raton is The Spine and Wellness Center at 5675 Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs, about 20 to 25 minutes from Boca Raton. The first visit is an exam with nerve testing, surface EMG, thermal scanning and X-rays when indicated; the second is your report of findings, where treatment — usually spinal decompression plus precise adjustments — begins.
Why Boca Raton patients choose us for sciatica treatment
Plenty of Boca Raton residents could find a chiropractor closer to home. They make the drive to us for sciatica treatment in Boca Raton for three practical reasons.
- It is a straightforward drive. Our clinic at 5675 Coral Ridge Drive is about 20 to 25 minutes from Boca Raton via the Sawgrass Expressway and Hillsboro Boulevard, or Glades Road to US-441, with free parking at the door. Patients from Mizner Park, Town Center at Boca Raton and Boca West are here every week.
- Hours that fit a working week. We are open until 7:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, with Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning hours, so you can come after work or before the commute without using a vacation day.
- We already know Boca Raton. We typically see Boca Raton golfers and tennis players from Boca West and Broken Sound, retirees who want to stay active, FAU students and staff, and I-95 commuters. Your plan is built around how you actually spend your days, not a generic template.
What is actually pressing on the sciatic nerve?
If you are looking for sciatica treatment in Boca Raton, the first thing to know is that the leg is rarely the problem. Sciatica is the sciatic nerve reporting irritation somewhere upstream — usually where its roots leave the lower spine. Pain, pins and needles or numbness travel down the back of the thigh and calf because that is the territory the nerve supplies, not because the leg is injured.
- Disc herniation at L4–L5 or L5–S1. The most common cause by a wide margin. The disc bulges or ruptures backward and presses on the nerve root; pain is worse sitting, bending and coughing.
- Foraminal narrowing. The exit tunnel for the nerve gets smaller as a disc thins or a facet joint thickens. More common after 50; pain is often worse standing and walking.
- Piriformis syndrome. A deep buttock muscle that the sciatic nerve runs beside clamps down and irritates it. Classic sign: buttock-first pain, little or no back pain, worse sitting on a wallet or driving.
Since 2005, our clinic on Coral Ridge Drive has treated Boca Raton patients with every one of these patterns, and the distinction decides the plan — a disc responds to decompression, a piriformis responds to soft-tissue work and hip correction. Start with our lower back pain relief guide or the herniated disc page for the full background.

Is it sciatica, or is it the hip or SI joint?
Before you assume sciatica, consider the neighbors. Three other structures sit within a few inches of the sciatic nerve and produce buttock and leg pain that gets mislabeled constantly: the sacroiliac joint, the hip joint and the piriformis muscle. Among Boca Raton patients who arrive convinced they have sciatica, a meaningful share actually have one of these.
The clue is the map. Nerve-root sciatica follows a strip down the back of the leg, often below the knee, and brings tingling, numbness or weakness with it. SI joint pain stays low and one-sided, over the dimple at the base of the spine, and flares when you stand up from a chair or roll over in bed. Hip joint pain lives in the groin or the outer hip and hurts with walking and shoes. Piriformis pain starts deep in the buttock, with almost no back pain, and hates hard seats and long drives.
On visit one we test the nerve directly — straight-leg raise, slump test, reflexes, strength and sensation — alongside provocation tests for the SI joint and hip, so the plan targets the real driver. For hip-centered, one-sided pain, read our hip and SI joint guide; the two problems are often treated together. It is the difference between generic leg-pain care and sciatica treatment in Boca Raton that targets the right structure.
What is sciatica treatment in Boca Raton like at The Spine and Wellness Center?
Every plan follows the 4R Method: Repair, Rebuild, Regenerate, Refine. For sciatica the order is not optional — a compressed nerve has to be unloaded before any correction can hold.
Repair — take the pressure off the nerve
For disc-driven sciatica the Repair phase centers on non-surgical spinal decompression on the Triton DTS table. Patients often ask whether this is just traction. It is not. Traction applies a constant pull that the muscles quickly resist; decompression uses computer-controlled cycles of pull and release that keep the muscles relaxed, lowering pressure inside the disc so the herniated material can retract from the nerve. About 20 minutes per session, paired with precise adjustments and cold laser for inflammation. Typically 3–5 visits a week for 4–8 weeks.
Rebuild — correct what loaded the disc
Once the leg is quiet, we fix the architecture: corrective care for the lumbar curve and pelvis, physical therapy to retrain the deep core and hip stabilizers, and soft-tissue work for the piriformis and the fibrotic tissue around an old injury. 2–3 visits a week for 8–16 weeks.
Regenerate and Refine — keep the nerve happy
Regenerate adds red light, PEMF and IHHT oxygen therapy to support nerve and disc recovery, about twice a week for two months or more. Refine is a brief tune-up roughly monthly so the sciatica you worked to resolve stays resolved.
What happens at your first two visits?
The first appointment is built around a proper examination — and, when it’s appropriate, your care starts the same day. Treating a leg symptom without knowing which structure is compressing the nerve is how sciatica gets managed for years instead of resolved.
Visit one: measurement
Expect a proper conversation about where the pain travels and what provokes it, then a hands-on exam built around the nerve: straight-leg raise and slump tests, reflexes, strength and sensation down the leg, plus provocation tests for the SI joint and hip so we can rule them in or out. Surface EMG and thermal scanning along the spine then map muscle guarding and likely nerve irritation in a way we can re-scan later. If the exam calls for it, digital X-rays show disc spacing, alignment and any narrowing where the nerve exits. Bring any MRI you have; we will read it with you.
Visit two: your report of findings
We sit down with your images and scans and explain what is irritating the nerve, which 4R phase you start in, how often you will come and for how long. Then Most patients have already begun care on visit one; this is where the full plan takes over. If you would rather arrive informed, the 60-second spine assessment gives us your Spine Score and likely pattern before you leave Boca Raton.

What helps sciatica at home — and when to see a doctor instead
Between visits, what you do with the leg either speeds recovery or keeps the nerve irritated. The rules for sciatica are a little different from ordinary back pain:
- Walk, don’t rest. Short, frequent walks on level ground keep the disc nourished and the nerve gliding; bed rest beyond a day or two usually makes sciatica worse.
- No aggressive forward bending early. Toe-touches and deep hamstring stretches load an irritated disc and can push symptoms further down the leg. Your plan adds nerve glides at the right stage.
- Break up sitting. Sitting is the highest-pressure position for a lumbar disc. Stand or walk for two minutes every 30–45 minutes, especially on the commute.
- Sleep unloaded. Side-lying with a pillow between the knees, or on your back with a pillow under the knees.
- Ice first, heat later. Ice the low back in the first 48 hours of a flare; heat for stiffness after that.
A few symptoms are not chiropractic problems and need same-day medical evaluation: new loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin or inner thighs, leg weakness that is getting worse quickly, or sciatica after a serious fall or accident. If any of these apply, please see a doctor or urgent care today. For everything else, the evidence favors conservative care first — the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke notes that most sciatica improves without surgery, which is reserved for progressive neurological deficits or pain that fails other treatment (NINDS, Back Pain).

Frequently asked questions
Should I stretch my hamstrings for sciatica?
Not early on. Deep hamstring stretches and toe-touches tension an irritated sciatic nerve and load the disc, and can push symptoms further down the leg. Walking is the safe early movement. Gentle nerve-gliding exercises are added at the right stage of your plan, once the leg has calmed.
Why does sciatica hurt more when I sit?
Sitting is the highest-pressure position for a lumbar disc, and most sciatica is disc-driven. The extra load pushes the bulge further toward the nerve root. That is also why long drives and desk days flare it, and why the Repair phase focuses on lowering pressure inside the disc with decompression.
What is the 4R Method for sciatica?
Repair, Rebuild, Regenerate, Refine. Repair unloads the nerve with decompression and adjustments (3–5 visits a week for 4–8 weeks); Rebuild corrects the lumbar curve, pelvis and deep core (2–3 a week for 8–16 weeks); Regenerate supports nerve and disc recovery; Refine keeps the result with brief monthly tune-ups.
Do you offer same-day appointments for Boca Raton patients?
Usually, yes. Same-day appointments are often available at our Coral Springs clinic, about 20 to 25 minutes from Boca Raton, so sciatica treatment in Boca Raton can start the week you call. Your first visit is a measurement visit — exam, surface EMG and thermal scans, X-rays when indicated — and your plan and treatment begin on visit two, typically within a few days.
Is there parking at the clinic?
Yes. Free parking is right outside the door at 5675 Coral Ridge Drive — no garage, no meters, no validation. Most Boca Raton patients find it simpler than parking near the coast or at a medical tower, and you walk straight into reception.
Which Boca Raton neighborhoods do you serve?
All of them. We regularly see patients from Mizner Park, Town Center at Boca Raton, Boca West, Spanish River Park and Florida Atlantic University and across the 33428, 33431, 33432, 33433, 33434, 33486, 33487, 33496 and 33498 ZIP codes. Wherever you are in Boca Raton, the drive is about 20 to 25 minutes via the Sawgrass Expressway and Hillsboro Boulevard, or Glades Road to US-441, and we schedule follow-ups around your commute.
