Quick answer

The closest clinic for measured, non-surgical back pain treatment near Boca Raton is The Spine and Wellness Center at 5675 Coral Ridge Drive, Coral Springs, about 20 to 25 minutes from Boca Raton. The first visit is an exam with surface EMG, thermal scanning and X-rays when indicated; the second is your report of findings, where treatment — often Triton DTS spinal decompression — begins.

Why Boca Raton patients choose us for back pain treatment

The Spine and Wellness Center has cared for Boca Raton families since 2005. Here is why they keep choosing us for back pain treatment in Boca Raton rather than a clinic down the street.

  • Close enough to be routine. The clinic is about 20 to 25 minutes from Boca Raton via the Sawgrass Expressway and Hillsboro Boulevard, or Glades Road to US-441. Free parking is at the door, and we schedule follow-ups around your commute so the drive stays a non-issue.
  • Hours built for working people. Open until 7:00 pm three evenings a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday), plus Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings.
  • Care that fits Boca Raton life. We regularly treat Boca Raton golfers and tennis players from Boca West and Broken Sound, retirees who want to stay active, FAU students and staff, and I-95 commuters. That experience shapes everything from the exam to the home-care plan.

Why does back pain keep coming back?

If you have been searching for back pain treatment in Boca Raton, you have probably already tried the usual things: rest, a heating pad, a stretch routine from the internet, maybe a few adjustments that felt good for a day. When the ache returns, it is rarely because you did something wrong. It is because the structure driving it was never identified.

The lumbar spine has several pain generators sitting within a few centimeters of each other. The disc, the facet joints behind it, the sacroiliac joint below and the deep muscles that guard all three each produce a different pattern — worse sitting, worse standing, worse rolling over in bed. Reading that pattern correctly is the whole job on your first visit.

Our clinic on Coral Ridge Drive has cared for Boca Raton families since 2005 under the clinical direction of Dr. Jared Cohen, DC. Everything we do — decompression, chiropractic, rehab — is sequenced around what the exam and scans show rather than a one-size plan. For the full picture of how we approach the lumbar spine, see our back pain treatment overview.

What is back pain treatment in Boca Raton like at The Spine and Wellness Center?

Our care follows the body’s own healing sequence, the 4R Method: Repair, Rebuild, Regenerate, Refine. The order matters. Relief without structural correction is temporary by design, and correction attempted on an inflamed, guarded spine does not hold.

Repair — take the pressure off

For disc and nerve patterns the Repair phase centers on non-surgical spinal decompression on the Triton DTS table — about 20 minutes of gentle, computer-controlled traction that lowers pressure inside the disc. We pair it with precise chiropractic adjustments at the segments generating the pain, plus cold laser or therapeutic ultrasound to calm inflammation. Typical commitment is 3–5 visits a week for 4–8 weeks.

Rebuild — correct what caused it

Once the nerve is quiet, we restore the architecture: corrective adjustments for the lumbar curve, physical therapy to retrain the deep core and hip stabilizers, and Graston soft-tissue work for the scar tissue that forms around an old injury. Usually 2–3 visits a week for 8–16 weeks. This is the phase that stops the relapse cycle.

Regenerate and Refine — keep it

Regenerate adds red light, PEMF and IHHT oxygen therapy to support tissue recovery, typically twice a week for two months or more. Refine is a brief tune-up every month or so to protect what you earned. Most Boca Raton patients finish with a spine that no longer produces the conditions for the next flare.

Which back pain patterns do we see most from Boca Raton?

Most back pain sorts into one of four patterns, and Boca Raton patients are no exception. Knowing which one you have is what turns a generic plan into a specific one:

  • Disc-driven pain. Worse with sitting, bending and lifting; may radiate into the buttock or down the leg (sciatica) when a nerve root is involved. The most common reason patients come to us for decompression.
  • Facet-driven pain. Sharp, local, worse on extension and first thing in the morning. Responds well to precise adjustments and anti-inflammatory therapies.
  • Sacroiliac pain. One-sided, low and off-center, aggravated by stairs, standing up and rolling over. Usually paired with a pelvic imbalance that needs correcting.
  • Guarding and strain. The broad, tight spasm that follows a lift or a long drive. Real, but almost always protecting one of the three structures above.

If any leg numbness, tingling or weakness comes with it, a nerve is involved and we prioritize taking pressure off it. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke reports that most acute low back pain improves with conservative care and that surgery is reserved for progressive neurological deficits or pain that fails other treatment (NINDS, Back Pain) — which is exactly the window we work in.

What happens at your first two visits?

Two visits, two jobs. The first measures; the second explains and begins treatment. Boca Raton patients tell us it is the first time anyone has shown them what is actually going on in their back.

  • Visit one — the exam. A conversation about your pain and goals; a hands-on structural exam of posture, lumbar and hip motion, orthopedic and nerve-tension tests and a neurological screen; surface EMG and thermal scanning along the spine; and digital X-rays when indicated. We review any MRI you bring.
  • Visit two — the plan. Your report of findings, with scans and images in front of you, mapped onto the 4R Method: the structure driving the pain, the phase you start in, visit frequency and expected duration. Treatment starts at this visit.
  • Along the way. Re-exams and re-scans at set points so progress is measured, not assumed, and the plan adjusts to how you respond.

Want a head start? The 60-second spine assessment produces a Spine Score and likely pattern we will have in hand before you arrive from Boca Raton.

What helps back pain at home — and when to see a doctor instead

Your plan will include the right movements at the right stage, but a few principles apply to almost every lumbar spine from day one:

  • Motion is lotion. Gentle, frequent walking keeps the discs hydrated and the facets moving. Bed rest beyond a day or two usually makes things worse.
  • Sitting is the quiet load. Desk work and long drives keep the discs under constant pressure. Stand and move for two minutes every 30–45 minutes.
  • Protect the hinge. Lift with the load close and the hips doing the work; avoid rounding the lower back under weight.
  • Sleep unloaded. Side-lying with a pillow between the knees, or on your back with a pillow under them.
  • Don’t force stretches early. Deep forward bends on an irritated disc can aggravate leg symptoms.

And know the warning signs that need a doctor today rather than a chiropractor: loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin or inner thighs, rapidly progressing leg weakness, back pain with fever or unexplained weight loss, or pain after a serious fall or accident. Please see a doctor or urgent care today if any of those apply. For everything else — the aching, the sciatica, the disc you were told might need surgery — see our guides to herniated discs and lower back pain relief, then call us.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an MRI before my first visit?

No. Bring any imaging you already have and we will review it, but your first visit includes a hands-on exam, surface EMG and thermal scanning, and digital X-rays when indicated. That is usually enough to identify the structure driving your pain and build a plan.

Will I be treated on my first visit?

Your first visit is a measurement visit: conversation, structural exam, scans and X-rays when indicated. Visit two is your report of findings, where we explain what we found and your plan —, and the full plan is set there. Measuring first is what makes the plan accurate.

What is the 4R Method?

Repair, Rebuild, Regenerate, Refine — the sequence every plan follows. Repair calms the irritated structure (3–5 visits a week for 4–8 weeks), Rebuild corrects the cause (2–3 a week for 8–16 weeks), Regenerate supports tissue recovery, and Refine keeps the result with brief monthly tune-ups.

Do you offer same-day appointments for Boca Raton patients?

Usually, yes. Same-day appointments are often available at our Coral Springs clinic, about 20 to 25 minutes from Boca Raton, so back pain treatment in Boca Raton can start the week you call. Your first visit is a measurement visit — exam, surface EMG and thermal scans, X-rays when indicated — and your plan and treatment begin on visit two, typically within a few days.
